Welcome back to the second spring half term, with five weeks remaining up until Easter. Where does the time go? It’s crunch time now for Year 11 as they continue towards the build up for GCSE examinations after Easter and we have mock examinations in core subjects next week to give them a final attempt before the real thing! Year 11 should have created a revision programme at home, and should be following it. Parents can contact us if you need support in creating this revision programme

I know that parents will be concerned about the Coronavirus situation. That’s inevitable. It’s very important that you know we are receiving daily updates from Stockport MBC with the latest guidance. This morning, all headteachers also received an update from professionals at Stepping Hill Hospital. There really is nothing to worry about: we all just need to be vigilant, and we will be making sure that is the case moving forward. Stockport MBC will be issuing an advice statement next week for parents I understand. Parents can also keep up-to-date with the latest information by looking at the Public Health England website, https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/public-health-england

Just a reminder … a small number of students are ringing parents from school, to ask them to come and collect them if they feel unwell. We have very clear procedures in school and a dedicated Medical Needs Officer in our Main Office, Megan Rothwell. Parents can contact her if they have any medical concerns, and she will be the contact to let you know if there is a health issue. If students feel unwell, they will be directed by year leaders to the main office for support

We had an excellent 84% turnout for Year 10 Parents’ Consultation Evening last night. Next week is Year 8 Parents’ Evening on Thursday from 4pm to 7pm. It is crucial that Year 8 parents attend, as you will be provided with some updated information on our new curriculum “choices” programme for students moving into year 9. Further information to come on this …

I will also be updating you soon on some information regarding our new school minibus, and how this will be used to help us provide additional support for parental liaison work.
