19 October 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,
A Year 8 student has tested positive for Covid 19 on Sunday. They were last in school on Thursday of last week. We have worked with Public Health England to identify those staff and students who have had close contact with this member of our community. These contacts – 30 children - have now been identified and informed, and will be staying at home for two weeks from the date the child developed symptoms. These students were isolated on our astro pitches at 9am this morning, and had left the premises by 10am.
We have had no further positive results in the school. If this situation changes and our provision for your child needs to be adjusted then we will communicate with you separately.
I am aware that any changes to our provision may be frustrating for those affected with regard to childcare arrangements and attendance at work but I am sure you will agree, this
is a serious matter and it is essential that our school only provides face to face lessons when it is safe to do so.
What happens next?
If your child is affected, you will have heard from us this morning. These students must now isolate until Thursday 29th October and will return to school after half term. They will
be provided with home learning information from tomorrow, Tuesday. A reminder that it is the child only who needs to isolate - not their family or any siblings in school - and tests are not required unless your child or a member of the family develops symptoms. You can contact the NHS or Mrs Rothwell at school for advice if you are unsure.
I appreciate that for some families, this update may become a consideration for keeping your children at home with you. A reminder that you should continue to send your child to school. As in all my communication, I remind you to contact year leaders and/or our attendance team if you have any concerns with regard to attendance.
I will update you of any further developments as necessary. I am currently in liaison with the Local Authority and Public Health England as per the normal procedures. I can reassure you
that the school has adhered to all safety guidance and is compliant with Gov.Uk recommendations for being open during the pandemic. Thank you for your understanding in these challenging times. School remains fully open.
