At Werneth we are committed to the training of new teachers, who bring many positive benefits to our students and the wider school community during their placements.
We work with a range of Initial Teacher Training providers, both locally and further afield. Currently these include the University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Huddersfield. We also have strong links with Cheadle Hulme High School. The Altius Alliance is led by Cheadle Hulme High School (CHHS) under the umbrella of the Laurus Trust. Werneth is part of the Alliance which is located across Stockport, Tameside and Trafford. It is within this context you can gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) within the trust. We are in partnership with The Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) for the award of PGCE. The Altius Alliance specialises in School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT). The vision for the Altius Alliance is to continue to be a centre of excellence for producing outstanding teachers for children aged 11-16.
