Welcome to the virtual launch of our leadership academy here at Werneth School where you will be able to get all the information you need.
Werneth Leadership Academy
As a school we strive to ensure that our students develop into well rounded young people who are ready to lead happy, successful lives in whatever route they choose. We want our young people to finish their time at Werneth not only with the best qualifications possible but with a vast range of personal attributes which will give them ‘The Edge’ and enables them to stand out from the crowd and achieve their goals.
There are so many leadership opportunities for students at Werneth ranging from The student council to assisting with school events and productions, running sports or Performing Arts activities, becoming a learning ambassador, to becoming a member of The Student Leadership Team in Year 11. Whatever students' interests are, there is an opportunity for them to become involved in a range of activities with school.
What is ‘The Edge’ LORIC
The Edge focuses on the key skills of Leadership, Organisation, Resilience, Initiative and Communication. Our young people have the opportunity to both demonstrate and develop these. We have currently launched LORIC through a form time activity programme where students focus on a different element of the LORIC strands and complete activities or participate in discussions about these attributes.
We are currently developing our delivery of LORIC over the coming years and will eventually launch of The Edge Award, where our students can be accredited for the additional things they do as part of their daily school life; from taking on a leadership role, to helping organise activities based on Mental health and Anti-bullying weeks,, to leading a warm-up session to attending an extra-curricular event. There are also many activities outside school which can be accredited too.
