The safeguarding policy can be found on the ELT Trust website https://www.educationlearningtrust.com/about-us/policies

Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.
Safeguarding means:

  • protecting children from abuse and maltreatment
  • preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development
  • ensuring children receive safe and effective care
  • taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes

Safeguarding

The school’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of young people and adults is our highest priority. We strive to ensure that the signs and symptoms of abuse are picked up, thus the opportunity for those wishing to cause harm to children is drastically reduced. We are committed to ensuring staff and students are trained and understand their roles and responsibilities with regard to safeguarding. Ultimately our vision is that all young people can achieve and be the best that they can be. For that to happen we are clear that everyone needs to be safe, secure and happy; and know what to do if they are not or they see others who are not. Governors are committed to ensuring the necessary training and resources required are available for the DSL to fulfil their role.

Purpose and principles

The purpose of our safeguarding policy is to ensure that all stakeholders are aware of the arrangements that we have in place for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students. It provides guidance to help staff who may have concerns about the safety or welfare of a child, and sets out our position in relation to the safeguarding process. It is a tool that should enable the role of DSL to be seamlessly picked up if Mr Jones was not available short or long term.

Child Protection

Child protection is part of the safeguarding process. It focuses on protecting individual children identified as suffering or likely to suffer significant harm. This includes child protection procedures which detail how to respond to concerns about a child. Safeguarding children and child protection guidance and legislation applies to all children up to the age of 18.

CEOP is here to keep children safe from sexual abuse and grooming online. You can make a report directly to the CEOP Safety Centre by clicking on the Click CEOP button if something has happened online which has made you feel unsafe, scared or worried. This might be from someone you know in real life, or someone you have only ever met online. CEOP take all reports seriously and we will do everything we can to keep you safe.

As well as making a report to the CEOP Safety Centre, the CEOP Education website has information and advice to help you if something has happened to you online.

Are you being bullied? CEOP are unable to respond to reports about bullying but if you’re being bullied and would like to talk to someone in confidence right now you can speak to Childline on 0800 1111 or talk to them online – no worry is too big or too small
